MRI-EM4BIO
The MRI-EM4Bio electron microscopy facility has been open since September 2023 and is located on the 4th floor of Building 24 at the University of Sciences in Montpellier.
We offer services in 2D and 3D electron imaging, sample preparation, ultramicrotomy, and image analysis.
The facility is accessible by appointment only with the facility staff (see contacts below). All new projects must be discussed in advance with the facility manager.

- Microwave-assisted resin embedding
- Ultramicrotomy (semi-thin and ultrathin sections, serial sections)
- 2D topographic imaging (secondary electrons)
- 2D imaging on resin-embedded samples (backscattered electrons, STEM)
- Automated 2D imaging (multi-positions, mosaics)
- Nanotomy (very large area, very high resolution 2D imaging)
- 3D imaging by automated in situ ultramicrotomy (serial block face)
- 3D imaging by ex situ ultramicrotomy and automated acquisition (array tomography)
- Indirect CLEM (Correlative Light-Electron Microscopy; photonic imaging before embedding)
